The Flemington lab is engaged in research investigating the etiology and mechanisms of pathogen involvement in human diseases, with a special attention to viral associated cancers. Emphasis is on the role of herpesviral non-coding RNAs and their interactions with innate immune mechanisms, evasion of adaptive immunity in EBV associated cancers, and the development of genomics and transcriptomics tools to deal with the complexities of viral genomes.
